The Galapagar Town Hall has received the children's park on María Zambrano Street, in Parquelagos, featuring equipment made from recycled plastic. This initiative is part of the balance for the 'Year of Parks', which totals over 168,000 euros in shade and renovations.
Residents of Parquelagos, in Galapagar, can now use the renovated children's park on María Zambrano Street. The Town Hall has received the project, which includes a modular play unit with three platforms, a suspension bridge, two polyethylene slides, and climbing elements such as a climbing wall, slanted net, vertical ladder, and rope ramp.
The space also incorporates a ground-level play unit with an abacus, flat seat, chalkboard, and roof, a nest swing with a net seat, and a two-person seesaw. The structures are made from 100% recycled and recyclable plastics, weather-resistant and splinter-free.
The renovation of this park adds to the balance of the 'Year of Parks' that the Town Hall announced on 17 September 2026. Among the executed projects, the park in Colonia España stands out, with an investment of 38,400 euros, which included children's play areas and a natural circuit integrated into the environment.
In La Navata, the renovation of the park on José Capelo Street cost 43,000 euros. The intervention restored the multi-sport court and incorporated cross-training and calisthenics elements, a bike repair station, new lighting, benches, and bins.
During the summer, the Town Hall installed nearly 300 square meters of shade in the children's park on Avenida Víctimas del Terrorismo, with an investment exceeding 87,000 euros. The Town Hall is already working to extend these solutions to other parks with higher foot traffic and less natural shade.
The next step in the municipal plan is the transformation of the sports facilities in Parquelagos into an Open Sports Space. The project includes an investment of 1.6 million euros to recover over 11,000 square meters of deteriorated facilities. The works, which will begin soon, will include two artificial turf football 7 pitches, three paddle courts, a renovated basketball court, a children's area, LED lighting, universal accessibility, vegetative acoustic protection, and parking spaces on the premises.
