The Getafe City Council has granted the license to the Community of Madrid to adapt the parking lot of Los Ángeles school, after decades of demands due to mud and access issues.
This week, the Getafe City Council has granted the license that allows the Community of Madrid to begin the adaptation works for the parking lot next to Los Ángeles school. This ends a decades-long wait for families who have suffered from mud and access problems in the area every winter.
The land where the work will take place is owned by the Community of Madrid, through the public company Planifica Madrid, formerly known as Arpegio. Despite not having jurisdiction over the land, the Getafe City Council has been the driving force behind joint meetings to unblock the project.
In recent weeks, the City Council has made multiple requests for the final project to comply with urban planning and accessibility regulations, correcting defects presented by the regional government. Environmental protection guarantees and the preservation of existing trees on the site have also been demanded.
Meanwhile, the City Council has already paved the access to the school and to APANID from the A-42, with an investment of over 100,000 euros. This improvement has alleviated the situation, but the parking lot remains pending.
Families hope that the works will begin soon and be completed before the new school year to avoid further inconveniences. The project is now in the hands of the regional government, which must carry out the work with the license already in its possession.
