The Department of Family, Seniors, Youth and Childhood is relocating the intergenerational discussions from the Seniors Centre on Retama Street to La Casa de la Juventud. The meetings will be held on Wednesdays, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM, with free entry and open to all ages.
The intergenerational discussions in Colmenar Viejo are changing location. The Department of Family, Seniors, Youth and Childhood has decided to move these meetings, which were previously held at the Seniors Centre on Retama Street, to La Casa de la Juventud, located at 16 Carretera de Hoyo de Manzanares Street. The sessions will take place every Wednesday, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM.
The councillor for the area, Enrique Navarro Hermosilla, explains that the change aims to reinforce the intergenerational nature of the discussions. According to the councillor, the space was "especially linked to older people" and now aims to "encourage the participation of residents of different ages, interests and areas of life in the municipality".
From the Town Hall, we want to extend the invitation to clubs and sports entities, cultural and social associations, youth and senior groups, and, in general, to all groups and individuals that are part of the social life of Colmenar Viejo
The first discussion of this new phase will take place this Wednesday, 30th September, at 5:30 PM, in the Palas Room, on the first floor of La Casa de la Juventud. It is titled ‘What Really Matters’ and will be moderated by Dr. Ignacio Prieto, a chemist and biochemist specialised in Molecular Biology, with experience in pharmaceutical research and scientific instrumentation.
The format of each session begins with a fifteen-minute introduction by the moderator. After that, a colloquium is opened where the speaking turns and interventions of the attendees are organised. At the end of each meeting, the participants themselves choose the topic for the next discussion.
Attendance is free and open to people of all ages, without the need to belong to any group or association. The sessions are held every Wednesday at the specified time in La Casa de la Juventud.
