The San Lorenzo de El Escorial Town Hall has put into service two sensor stations that measure noise pollution, gases, and particles in the municipality. The investment, funded by NextGenerationEU, amounts to €60,000.
San Lorenzo de El Escorial already has a municipal environmental monitoring and air quality system. The Town Hall has supplied, installed, and configured two sensor stations at representative points in the municipality, which will now carry out continuous and geolocated measurements.
The devices record noise pollution, carbon monoxide (CO), carbon dioxide (CO₂), sulfur dioxide (SO₂), nitrogen dioxide (NO₂), ozone (O₃), PM2.5 and PM10 particles, as well as temperature and relative humidity. The system stores data locally in case of power or connectivity interruptions, according to the council.
The Town Hall's Smart City platform displays parameters in real-time and their history, along with the location and operational status of each device. It includes a monitoring panel, configurable alerts, and comparative reports.
As an improvement over the initial offering, a weather station has been added that includes wind speed and direction, precipitation, and atmospheric pressure. The project is funded with NextGenerationEU funds amounting to €60,000.
