The City Council of San Martín de la Vega has approved the purchase of a mobile clean point with an investment of €51,462.03. The service will be installed at various locations in the municipality according to a fixed schedule.

The City Council of San Martín de la Vega has approved the project to acquire a mobile clean point, with an investment of €51,462.03. The equipment will bring waste collection services to the neighbourhoods and population centres, which currently only operate at the fixed facilities on Avenida Abogados de Atocha. The council plans to co-finance the purchase with FEDER funds from the Integrated Action Plans for sustainable urban development.

The new service consists of a trailer with eight 360-litre containers and six removable trays for special waste, with a capacity of between 30 and 50 litres. As explained by the Municipal Services Councillor, Sergio Neira, the aim is for residents to be able to dispose of domestic waste that does not fit in street containers, such as batteries, vegetable oil, expired medications, toner cartridges, or fluorescent lights.

We want to bring the selective collection of certain domestic waste directly to the neighbourhoods, especially those that are vulnerable, to facilitate recycling without the citizen having to travel to the Clean Point.

The itinerant clean point will follow a fixed schedule, and at each stop, there will be a panel with the planned days and times. In addition, the City Council plans an information and awareness campaign about the service, which Neira hopes will be launched at the beginning of 2027.
