The municipality has gone from a single operational hydrant to a network spread throughout the area, has regularised its defibrillators, and has received approval for its Municipal Territorial Civil Protection Plan.
Villanueva de Perales has carried out a series of actions in the field of safety and civil protection that had been pending for years. The Town Hall has invested €3,986.95, with entirely municipal funds, to upgrade the municipality's hydrant network, which until now only had one operational point, located next to the Football Field.
In various urbanisations, there were connections prepared for future hydrants, but they had never been installed or put into operation. This shortcoming limited the capacity of fire extinguishing services, which need strategically distributed water supply points to act quickly.
With the works already completed, the municipality now has new operational points distributed across different areas. Additionally, the Town Hall has requested the approved signs for their proper marking, completing the network's upgrade in accordance with current regulations.
Another action has been the regularisation of the inspections of the automated external defibrillators (AED) installed in the municipality. The governing team detected that these devices were not up to date with maintenance, batteries, and electrodes, a crucial requirement for them to be used safely in the event of a cardiac arrest.
On the regulatory front, the Civil Protection Commission of the Community of Madrid issued a favourable report on June 29, 2026 for the Municipal Territorial Civil Protection Plan (PLATEMUN) of Villanueva de Perales. The municipality lacked this document, which is essential for organising responses to fires, floods, serious accidents, or adverse weather phenomena.
Its preparation took more than a year of work, involving risk identification, inventory of municipal resources, and coordination with the regional government. With the plan approved, services such as Firefighters, Civil Guard, SUMMA 112, and Civil Protection will be able to act in a coordinated manner in the event of any major emergency.
The Town Hall has also incorporated the TETRA communications system, connected with the Madrid 112 Security and Emergency Agency. This system allows for communication to be maintained even in exceptional situations, such as power outages or failures of conventional networks.
With these measures, the municipality strengthens its emergency response capacity, an aspect that the governing team considers a priority for the protection of residents.
