The State Meteorological Agency activates the yellow level for rain and storms in the Community of Madrid from 14:00 this Friday, October 2. Accumulations of up to 20 mm in one hour are expected, with the possibility of hail in several areas.

The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has issued a bulletin for adverse weather phenomena at yellow level for rain and storms in the Community of Madrid. The warning comes into effect at 14:00 hours on Friday, October 2, 2026 and extends, depending on the area, until midnight on Saturday 3 or until 00:00 on Sunday 4.

The General Sub-Directorate of Civil Protection of the Madrid Security and Emergency Agency 112 has disseminated the forecast, which affects Aranjuez and the rest of the region. In the Sierra area, the rain warning starts at 14:00 on Friday and ends at 03:00 on Saturday, with a forecasted accumulated precipitation of 20 mm in one hour and a probability of 40% to 70%. For the Metropolitan and Henares area, the rain warning also begins at 14:00 on Friday and ends at 00:00 on Saturday, with the same 20 mm in one hour.

In the South, Vegas and West regions, the accumulated rain in one hour will be 20 mm and in 12 hours 40 mm, with the possibility of these amounts being reached in just 6 hours. The rain warning in this area ends at 00:00 on Saturday 3.

The storms will also be present. In the Sierra, the storm warning is activated at 14:00 on Friday and lasts until 03:00 on Saturday, with the possibility of hail and very strong gusts. In the Metropolitan and Henares, South, Vegas and West, the storm warning runs from 14:00 to 00:00 on Saturday, with the same probability of hail and intense gusts.

On Saturday 3, the Sierra maintains the yellow warning for rain and storms from 15:00 until midnight on Sunday 4. In the case of storms, the bulletin indicates the possibility of hail, although it does not specify strong gusts for that day.

A yellow storm warning indicates that strong storms are expected in the affected warning area. Given the nature of these phenomena, there is a possibility that storms of higher intensity may occur sporadically," the AEMET bulletin states.

Civil Protection reminds that in case of any emergency, one should call 112. The warning will remain active until 00:00 hours on Sunday, October 4, when the episode is expected to conclude in all areas.
