CBS Rivas Oliva Técnica has won its eighth consecutive national league, equalling the record of CB Viladecans. The final, contested against the other Rivas-Vaciamadrid team, Dridma Rivas, was decided in three matches.
The CBS Rivas Oliva Técnica has once again won the national women's softball league. The Rivas-Vaciamadrid team secured its eighth consecutive title on August 8, after defeating their neighbour, Dridma Rivas, in the final.
With this victory, the Rivas team equals the historical record held by CB Viladecans, which won eight leagues between 2000 and 2007. If they retain the title next year, they will surpass the Barcelonans and stand alone at the top of the Spanish softball honours list.
The final was played in a best-of-five format on August 2, 8, and 9 at the municipal field of the Cerro del Telégrafo, the home ground of both teams. CBS Rivas did not give their rivals a chance, winning the first three matches: 4-1, 18-1, and 8-0.
This is the first time in the history of national softball that two Madrid teams have contested the title. Dridma Rivas, improving on their third place finish in 2025, takes home the silver medal.
The CBS Rivas season has been overwhelmingly consistent: they have only lost one match throughout the campaign, against CB Viladecans, and finished the regular phase with 21 wins and one loss. Dridma Rivas reached the final after finishing third in the regular phase (16-6) and overcoming Viladecans in the semi-finals (18-4).
The Rivas team has also achieved a league and cup double since 2022 and has not lost a match in league and cup since 2024.
The next challenge for both teams comes on September 5 and 6, when the final phase of the Copa de la Reina will take place, featuring the top four teams from the league: CBS Rivas, Dridma Rivas, CB Viladecans, and OBB Bizkorrak from Orio (Guipúzcoa).
In the men's category, Dridma Rivas SC has been crowned champion of the National League, which this year featured three teams. The title was decided on the last day against Magos de Tenerife, who arrived with a chance to win the league. The third team in contention was CB Hèrcules L'Hospitalet.
