The facilities of the Camilo José Cela University are hosting the Under-15 and Under-19 Modern Pentathlon World Championships until Friday, August 28, with nearly 250 athletes from various countries.
The mayor of Villanueva de la Cañada, Luis Partida, has attended the Under-15 and Under-19 Modern Pentathlon World Championships taking place at the Camilo José Cela University (UCJC). The mayor was accompanied by the councillors for Urban Planning and Twinning, Gabriel García and Margarita Serrano, respectively.
The competitions, organised by the Spanish Modern Pentathlon Federation, bring together nearly 250 athletes from different countries until Friday, August 28. During his visit, the mayor presented trophies to the winners of the Under-15 male category.
The participants have competed in the disciplines of swimming, fencing, obstacles (OCR), and Laser Run, a modality that combines shooting and running. In the team classification, Egypt, Independent Athletes, and Poland took to the podium.
Villanueva de la Cañada has become an international venue for modern pentathlon this August. Before these categories, the municipality hosted the FISU 2026 University World Championship of Modern Pentathlon, also held at UCJC.
