From September 11 to 14, the town will host four events featuring youth schools, novilladas, and a qualifying round of Camino hacia Las Ventas, with a focus on local students.
The 2026 Bullfighting Fair of Galapagar will take place from September 11 to 14 with a lineup centred on young talents and youth schools. The cycle includes a practical class, a novillada with picadors, another without them, and one of the qualifying rounds of the Camino hacia Las Ventas competition.
The Councillor for Festivities and Bullfighting Affairs, Javier Álvarez, explains the intent behind the programming: "It is much more than a novillada; it is a professional pathway and a unique opportunity for all of them, as for many kids who dream of wearing lights, it can be the first big step towards a great bullfighting career."
The Camino hacia Las Ventas competition, organised by the Centre for Bullfighting Affairs of the Community of Madrid and Plaza 1, is celebrating its XIV edition. Schools from Colmenar Viejo, Galapagar, Navas del Rey, Fundación El Juli, José Cubero "Yiyo" and CITAR are participating. Each has four performances in the qualifying phase, and the top three will compete in the grand final at Las Ventas.
The fair will kick off on Friday 11 with a practical class from youth schools and five bulls from Hermanos Quintas Parras. Among the participants will be David Rey from the Galapagar Bullfighting School, alongside Alonso de Lucas, Juan Morales, Izan Alonso, and Sergio Palma.
On Saturday 12, the novillada with picadors from Casasola will take place, featuring six novillos for Joel Ramírez, Samuel Castrejón, and Pedro Gómez. Castrejón arrives as the winner of the 2025 edition of Camino hacia Las Ventas, while Pedro Gómez, a student from the local school, was a finalist in that competition.
On Sunday 13, it will be the turn of the novillos from El Estoque for Armando Rojo and Luis Izaguirre. On Monday 14, the qualifying round of Camino hacia Las Ventas will be held with six novillos from Dehesa de Guadarrama for Francisco Benito, Gabriel Segura, and César de Yuste. Benito, also from the Galapagar Bullfighting School, is in third place in the overall classification after the first event in Miraflores de la Sierra, behind Israel Guirao and Rubén Vara.
The four ranches participating in the cycle are Hermanos Quintas Parras, Casasola, El Estoque, and Dehesa de Guadarrama. The events will take place at the bullring in Galapagar.
