This Friday, September 4, at 19:30, the Plaza de la Constitución in Valdemorillo hosts the second edition of 'Live Art in the Plaza', featuring five performing artists and local creators.
The Plaza de la Constitución in Valdemorillo will transform this Friday, September 4, starting at 19:30, into the first major stage of the patronal festivities. The programme 'Live Art in the Plaza', promoted by the Community of Madrid and created by LA JUAN GALLERY, returns for a second consecutive year in the municipality to bring five performative proposals from contemporary artists, who will share experiences with local artists and craftsmen.
The Councillor for Culture and Tourism, Victoria Gil, has highlighted that “we will once again enjoy this interesting programme with which the Community of Madrid celebrates creative talent through dynamic and participatory actions to be developed in the heart of the towns, such as their plazas, reinventing them through the prism of art.”
The action SONALLADA, by Mónica Mura, is a sound proposal linked to the memory of transhumance as a cultural, social, and symbolic practice. AL PIE DE LA LETRA, by Sara Gema, is based on the literal interpretation of proverbs, idioms, and popular expressions. VESTIRSE DE SOL, by MOCHOLI, will show the artist crossing the plaza while her dress grows from its initial white to become an expanded sun woven with ribbons, words, and presences.
BORDAR EL CUIDADO, by Yolanda Andrés, is a participatory proposal that will transform the plaza into a meeting space between generations through embroidery and felt, inviting children and adults to share a table, time, and conversation. UN PUEBLO IMAGINADO, by Julio Linares, will work on portraiture as an expanded device and activate a real-time painting practice, visible to all.
As for local participation, there will be María Bittini with a small print workshop as an introduction to engraving; Diana Nieto with embroidery alongside Yolanda Andrés; Antonio Acero with painting and photography; Pilar Carretero with handmade notebook binding; Rakel Valero with sculptures and tile works inspired by the facades of the town; the Valdemorillo Bobbin Lace Group with bobbin lace demonstrations; Héctor Delgado Millán with stone carving; Alfonsa Martín with glass craftsmanship; and Marta Maineri with copper jewellery.
The activity is free and is presented as the first festive event with the street as a stage. The council notes that the programme “recognises the success of a stage that fully responds to the objective of this cultural, interactive, free, and unique manifestation.”
