The municipality celebrates the Patron Saint Festivities in honour of the Virgen de las Angustias from September 18 to 22, featuring free concerts by Camela and Panorama, bull runs, and popular tastings.
The Town Hall of Mejorada del Campo, through the Department of Festivities, has organised the Patron Saint Festivities 2026 in honour of the Virgen de las Angustias, which will take place from September 18 to 22 with a programme that includes concerts, bull festivities, gastronomic tastings, and children's activities.
On Friday, September 18, at 19:00 hours, a parade by the New Beat Twirling and Majorettes club will travel from Plaza del Progreso to Plaza de España, where the band Los de la Cruz will perform. At 19:45 hours, from the balcony of the old Town Hall, the opening speech will be given by the women's association 'El Camino', which has 35 years of history and around 200 members. After the fireworks and the firecracker, at 20:30 hours, the traditional floral offering to the Virgen de las Angustias will take place.
In the evening, at 21:00 hours, DJs Dímelo Flow and José de las Heras will perform on the stage at Miguel Hernández street, in front of the Fairgrounds. At midnight, the 'In the Shadow Fest' will begin in the dirt field of the municipal sports centre 'La Dehesa'.
One of the main novelties this year will be access control to the concerts on Friday and Saturday in fenced areas, with limited capacity and video surveillance. Residents registered in Mejorada del Campo will have priority for access to the venues. Entry will be free until capacity is reached.
On Saturday the 19th, at 11:00 hours, the bull festivities will kick off with a popular bull run featuring six calves from the El Retamar ranch, which will end at the Bullring. At 12:30 hours, the women's association 'El Camino' will prepare and distribute a tasting of gachas in Plaza de España, accompanied by lemonade provided by the 'Rafael Alberti' Senior Citizens' Home Association. The Fábula Group will entertain the vermouth dance. At 14:30 hours, the Niño Muñeco group will perform at Tardiné, next to Parque La Paz.
In the afternoon, at 18:00 hours, the Bullring will host a bullfighting event with six calves from El Retamar for the novice bullfighters Sergio Rollón and Daniel Moset, followed by two calves for local novice bullfighters Vicente Molina and Juan Cánovas. The little ones can enjoy the children's park with shows, games, and inflatables from 17:00 hours at Parque del Vallejo.
At 22:00 hours, Camela will perform as the star act on the stage at Miguel Hernández street. At midnight, a fireworks display will be launched at the old football field on Avenida de los Toreros, followed by a show by the Panorama Orchestra at the same location. From 00:30 hours, local DJs will perform in the dirt field of the La Dehesa sports centre.
On Sunday the 20th, the popular bull run will start at 11:00 hours with four calves from the Fuenterroble ranch, one bull from Fuenterroble, and two cows donated by the corrals team. After that, there will be a children's bull run from the Bullring to Plaza de la Casa Grande. At 12:30 hours, in Plaza de España, 'La pringá mejoreña' (ratatouille with egg) and lemonade made by the 'Rafael Alberti' Senior Citizens' Home Association will be distributed, with the Xena Group performing at the vermouth dance. At 14:30 hours, DJ Rose will perform near Parque La Paz.
At 18:00 hours, the Bullring will host the Cutting Contest with four calves from Fuenterroble. In the Fairgrounds, at 20:00 hours, the children's show 'The K-Pop Warriors' will be performed. At 19:00 hours, a solemn mass will begin at the Church, followed by a procession to the Hermitage, accompanied by the Juventudes Musicales de Alcalá Palio Band, with performances by the women's association 'El Camino' and artist Merce López. At 23:30 hours, the Malassia Orchestra will close the day in Plaza de España.
On Monday the 21st, at 11:00 hours, seven calves from the La Guadamilla ranch will participate in the popular bull run. In Plaza de España, the Fama Group will liven up the vermouth dance with lemonade and snacks courtesy of the 'El Acople' group. At 17:00 hours, the children's park with shows, games, and inflatables will return to Parque del Vallejo. At 18:00 hours, there will be a mixed bullfighting event in the Bullring with four calves from La Guadamilla for novice bullfighters Andrés García, Félix San Román, and Marcos Adame, followed by the release of a bull from La Guadamilla and cows from El Retamar. At 23:00 hours, the Gaudí Band Orchestra will perform in Plaza de España.
