The Rivas-Vaciamadrid Street Culture and Citizen Art Festival is looking for 20 participants for the community production 'Rivas between generations', coordinated by the company La Voz Ahogada Projecte Escènic. Rehearsals will take place from 14 to 18 September and the performance will be on Sunday 20 at 19:00 in the Federico García Lorca cultural centre.

The Street Culture and Citizen Art Festival of Rivas-Vaciamadrid has opened registration to participate in the community theatre production 'Rivas between generations', which in 2026 is coordinated by the company La Voz Ahogada Projecte Escènic. The project proposes a meeting between grandmothers, grandfathers, granddaughters and grandsons over 16 years old who want to share a few days on stage and star in a collective piece inspired by the working-class, neighbourhood and community memory of the city.

There are 20 places available, granted on a first-come, first-served basis. The deadline to sign up is 11 September and registration is formalised on the municipal website inscripciones.rivasciudad.es. The activity is free of charge.

The community rehearsals will be held from Monday 14 to Friday 18 September, for three hours in the afternoon, and on Saturday 19 there will be a four-hour dress rehearsal. The performance will take place on Sunday 20 September at 19:00 in the Petra Martínez and Juan Margallo auditorium of the Federico García Lorca cultural centre, with free entry upon prior collection of an invitation at entradas.rivasciudad.es. After the performance, there will be a discussion with the company team and the artistic cast.

The production is built through theatrical dynamics, oral memory exercises, and collective creation processes in which participants share memories, experiences, and stories related to the construction of the city and neighbourhood struggles. The result will be a community theatre piece created by La Voz Ahogada Projecte Escènic based on personal materials and the community process, and performed by the citizens.

The Cultural Department of Rivas-Vaciamadrid has set aside a specific quota for those who cannot attend with their family member:

However, in order to ensure the inclusion and accessibility of the project, individuals who cannot attend with their family member will also be able to participate. In these cases, a specific quota will be reserved for individual participants, also promoting the creation of relationships and intergenerational working groups during the process.

La Voz Ahogada is a Catalan performing arts company dedicated to the search and dissemination of memory through theatre and pedagogical activities.

Interested individuals have until 11 September to register on the municipal website; invitations to attend the performance on the 20th can be collected at entradas.rivasciudad.es.
