Mayor Sara Hernández meets with the new National Police commissioner, Manuel Palma, to plan patrolling and prevention in the municipality. The City Council will maintain investment in Local Police and video surveillance.

The City Council of Getafe and the National Police have agreed to strengthen operational coordination with the Local Police to intensify interventions in the municipality. The agreement was reached during the first institutional meeting between the mayor, Sara Hernández, and the new National Police commissioner in Getafe, Manuel Palma, who took over the leadership following the change that occurred during the summer months.

The meeting served to convey the official welcome from the City Council and to lay the groundwork for operational planning for the coming months. Both parties discussed the general dynamics of the city and explored proposals to align available resources with the aim of responding swiftly and preventively to security challenges throughout the municipality.

The City Council has confirmed that it will continue to strengthen its own resources to complement the work of the state security forces. Specifically, it will maintain the increase in the Local Police workforce, expand the video surveillance network with cameras at access points and key areas of the city, and launch specific prevention campaigns.

The main shared objective of the City Council and the Police Station is to multiply the efficiency of actions on the ground.

The meeting comes ahead of the publication of crime data for the first half of the year. According to the City Council, the rise in indicators in Getafe is similar to that experienced by other large municipalities in the area, and the strengthening of collaboration between both institutions aims to reverse this widespread trend.

The City Council has confirmed that the operational planning agreed with the Police Station will be implemented in the coming months throughout the municipality.
