The pastry chef Nacho Pontón, at the helm of Pastelería Pontón, has won the I National Contest for the Best Cheesecake in Spain, a competition held in Zamora as part of the FROMAGO Cheese Experience 2026. The recognition comes after a specialized jury evaluated his entry alongside those of other professionals from various parts of the country.
The mayor of San Lorenzo de El Escorial, Carlota López Esteban, received the pastry chef at the Town Hall on Tuesday to congratulate him on the first prize. During the meeting, Pontón detailed his participation in the contest and explained the ingredients, preparation, and resting times of the cheesecake he presented.
The winning recipe combines different types of cheese. Attendees at the reception were able to taste the award-winning cheesecake, according to the Town Hall.
Pastelería Pontón has two establishments in San Lorenzo de El Escorial. The mayor congratulated Nacho Pontón for the award and for the projection it brings to local commerce and gastronomy.

The contest was held in Zamora as part of FROMAGO Cheese Experience 2026, an event that brings together professionals from the cheese sector. The jury evaluated the participants' proposals and awarded the first prize to Pontón's creation.
