A tent in the Constitution Square will offer practical demonstrations of cardiopulmonary resuscitation and choking response on September 15, from 11:00 to 13:00, as part of the municipal health programme.
San Lorenzo de El Escorial will host a September 15 event from 11:00 to 13:00 in celebration of World First Aid Day. The Town Hall and Red Cross will set up a tent in the Constitution Square open to all residents who wish to participate.
Professionals and volunteers from the Red Cross will provide explanations and practical demonstrations. Attendees will be introduced to basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) techniques and learn how to intervene in the event of a choking incident, as well as the essential guidelines to follow during an emergency.
The activity will also allow participants to see some of the tools and resources used by the Red Cross in emergency care up close. The organization emphasizes that the first few minutes are crucial: staying calm, recognizing what is happening, calling for help, and performing the initial maneuvers correctly can prevent complications.
This programme continues the municipal initiatives aimed at promoting health among residents and encouraging an active role for citizens in caring for their own well-being, particularly focusing on information, prevention, and the adoption of habits that contribute to improving quality of life," stated the mayor, Carlota López Esteban.
The event is part of "Travel with us towards your health", a project launched by the Town Hall in April, coinciding with World Health Day, which will continue throughout 2026 with activities on prevention and self-care. Participants receive a "Passport" that gets stamped at each event; those attending the first aid session will be able to add a new stamp and receive a memento of their participation.
The programme will continue on October 13 with a session on healthy eating and on November 24 with another focused on how to face winter while taking care of health.
