The Plaza de la Familia will host the traditional themed market from Friday, September 11 to Sunday, September 13, this year set in the Wild West with shows, music, and crafts.
The traditional themed market of September in Tres Cantos kicks off this Friday, September 11, in the Plaza de la Familia, which will transform into a Far West town throughout the weekend. Organised by the Department of Culture, the event will run until Sunday, September 13, featuring shows, music, parades, crafts, and culinary offerings.
The setting recreates the American West with characters such as outlaws, gamblers, preachers, snake oil salesmen, and settler families, who will roam the market and perform street scenes. Music will play a significant role with performances by Wild West, The Mountain Family, The Barn Dance, and Country Dance.
Scheduled shows include Legendary Outlaws, The Gambler, O.K. Corral Duel, Jeremiah the Preacher, and The Undertaker, as well as the proposal Please, Don't Shoot the Pianist!, with several performances on Saturday.
The mayor, Jesús Moreno, has invited residents to enjoy this traditional event: "one of the traditional events of September in Tres Cantos, which this year invites us to travel to the Wild West and share an original and completely different weekend, with activities, shows, and many surprises".
The councillor for Culture, Elisa Lidia Miguel, explained that "we wanted to maintain the essence of this market but, at the same time, give it a different theme each year. This time, the Far West will be the thread running through a very visual and participatory programme, specifically designed to delight all audiences".
During the three days, the square will feature a village of artisans, an exhibition of Western tools, and a children's area. The culinary offerings will revolve around the Hour of Good Eating.
The market will open on Friday, September 11, at 17:30. After the inauguration and festive parade at 18:30, music and entertainment will continue until closing at 22:30. On Saturday, September 12, and Sunday, September 13, activities will start at 11:00, with a break at noon and resuming at 17:30; on Saturday, it will run until 22:30.
On Saturday at 20:00, the Country Dance Space will invite the public to an American dance session led by the local group Tres Cantos Country. On Sunday, a farewell parade at 21:15 will precede the final closing at 21:30.
