The municipal group of ACIPA presents a request to the September Plenary for the local government to convene the works commissions for the planned projects in the coming weeks or months, including the San Antonio square and the resurfacing plan.
The municipal group of the Independent Citizens' Group for Aranjuez (ACIPA) has submitted a request for the Plenary of the Corporation in September 2026 asking that the municipal government convene "as quickly as possible" the works commissions for the planned actions in the coming weeks or months.
In the text, ACIPA lists the interventions that have already been carried out in recent months, such as the improvement of the external parking at the station or the recovery of the Sabatini layout, and those that are yet to come, including the intervention on the roadways of the San Antonio square and on the road of the same name between the square and Joaquín Rodrigo street. According to the group, this last project will significantly impact mobility and parking as it involves the removal of parking spaces in several sections of the street.
The request also mentions the resurfacing plan and the repainting of road markings, as well as the removal of roundabouts at the intersections between Avenida Plaza de Toros, Rey-Camino de las Cruces, and Capitán street, which will be replaced by traffic lights.
We believe it is essential to convene the Works Commission in a timely manner to listen to and inform not only the residents but also the local merchants once the projects are drafted or awarded," ACIPA states in its document.
The municipal group warns that other administrations are preparing significant actions, such as the demolition of the deck of the Station Bridge. ACIPA recalls that a few months ago it requested the convening of the Mobility Pact to study alternatives to the closure of an infrastructure that connects the city with the A-4 and R-4. Since those alternatives will likely include minor works, the group understands that they can also be addressed in the works commission.
The request is elevated to the Plenary with a specific demand: that the municipal government activate the works commissions related to the planned actions in the coming weeks or months. The Plenary of the Corporation in September is the body that must debate and vote on the proposal.
