The Las Rozas City Council has unanimously approved in the ordinary September Plenary the granting of the Medal of Honour of the city to national football coach, Luis de la Fuente. The proposal, presented by the Government team, was passed without any votes against.
The mayor, José de la Uz, announced this distinction on September 4 during the State of the City Debate. The granting is processed according to the municipal regulations that govern honours and distinctions to individuals and institutions.
Until now, the City Council had only awarded this medal to Ignacio Echeverría, known as the 'Hero of the Skateboard', who was murdered in a terrorist attack in London in 2017.
For a career that combines extraordinary sporting merits, a close connection to our city, and a particularly admirable personal and social dimension,” said the spokesperson for the Popular Group, Ángel Luis Fernández-Polo, when presenting the proposal.
The Plenary also approved that a street in the locality will bear the name of the Order of the Barefoot Mercedarians. Additionally, two motions in support of Ceuta were also passed.
