The Town Hall of Móstoles will illuminate the facade of its headquarters in blue and green on Sunday, 27 September to commemorate World Retina Day. With this action, the council joins the "Inspiring Lights" campaign promoted by the Federation of Associations of Hereditary Retinal Dystrophies of Spain (FARPE) and its foundation FUNDALUCE.
The campaign aims to raise awareness of hereditary retinal diseases and promote visual care. It also seeks to encourage early diagnosis, support affected individuals, and promote research into treatments that alleviate their effects and, ultimately, their cure and eradication.
Collaboration between entities and associations enables the improvement of the quality of life for those affected by hereditary retinal dystrophies and other retinal pathologies
Hereditary Retinal Dystrophies (HRD) are a group of disorders caused by a hereditary defect that progressively alters the retina. They are considered rare diseases, with an estimated prevalence of one in every 3,000 to 5,000 inhabitants.
The initiative, which began in 2021, has involved the participation of more than 204 municipalities in 2025 and has international projection with the support of organizations from other countries. The campaign can be followed on social media using the hashtags #InspiringLights and #LucesQueInspiran.
World Retina Day is commemorated on the last Sunday of September. The illumination of the town hall will be visible on Sunday, 27 September in Móstoles.
