The City Council of Aranjuez has started the school year with maintenance work in its public centres, as part of a plan that allocates 800,000 euros until 2030. CEIP San Fernando has unveiled its renovated roofs.
The mayor of Aranjuez, Miguel Gómez Herrero, visited the CEIP San Fernando on Monday to mark the start of the school year and to check the works carried out during the summer. The centre has unveiled the rehabilitation of its roofs, an intervention that cost 75,000 euros, VAT included.
In addition to the roof, during the summer months, plumbing repairs, painting of classrooms and hallways on the first and second floors, and door repairs have been carried out. These improvements are part of the Public Schools Improvement Plan 2026-2030, which has a municipal investment of 800,000 euros.
The return to school is always an important moment for the entire educational community, and we want our public schools to be in the best possible condition. Therefore, the City Council has launched a four-year improvement plan, with an investment of 800,000 euros, which allows us to act in a planned manner while also addressing the specific needs of each centre,” the mayor stated.
The other public schools in Aranjuez have also started the year with plumbing work, painting, floor repairs, roofs, bathrooms, doors, blinds, and elevators, as well as improvements to dining halls, the installation of a new outdoor public address system, and the conditioning of hallways and ramps. The actions are decided based on requests made by the management teams and educational communities of each centre.
For this year, the City Council allocates 200,000 euros to this maintenance and improvement programme. Among the interventions planned for the coming months are the rehabilitation of sports fields, the installation of calisthenics parks, the placement of pergolas to create shaded areas, and improvements to the climate control systems.
