The Colmenar Viejo City Council continues with the Basic Material Assistance Programme, which provides cash cards to families with dependent children in economic vulnerability.
The Colmenar Viejo City Council, through its Department of Social Policy, is moving forward with the Basic Material Assistance Programme of the Community of Madrid, an initiative aimed at alleviating the situation of families with dependent children facing economic difficulties. The programme provides a cash card for the purchase of essential products.
To access this assistance, interested parties must meet a series of requirements assessed by the municipal Social Services: being in a disadvantaged economic situation, being registered in Colmenar Viejo, and having dependent children. A prior assessment is essential to determine if the family can benefit from the programme.
The Councillor for Social Policy, Jesús Fernández Fuillerat, explained that the aim is for no family to be unaware of the resources available. “From the City Council, we work to ensure that no family facing difficulties is left without knowledge of the resources and assistance available to them. This programme is an important support to ensure the coverage of basic needs while also providing social support tailored to each situation,” he stated.
The procedure begins with an appointment with the designated social worker in the municipal Social Services. After analysing the personal and family situation and verifying that the criteria are met, the referral is processed. Subsequently, the Community of Madrid contacts the beneficiaries to provide them with the card, which can be used in establishments participating in the programme.
The card allows the purchase of food, basic personal hygiene items, menstrual hygiene products, and baby diapers. Additionally, the programme includes social support measures aimed at promoting inclusion and improving the situation of participating families.
Individuals who believe they may meet the requirements or want more information can request an appointment at the municipal Social Services, where they will receive personalised advice about this programme and other available benefits according to their needs.
The Basic Material Assistance Programme is funded by the Community of Madrid and is implemented in Colmenar Viejo in collaboration with the City Council, as part of the support actions for families in vulnerable situations.
