The Coslada City Council has supported the call from the Government Delegation in Madrid and held a silent gathering to condemn the latest recorded misogynistic murder in the region, which took place in Leganés. The victim is Cristina, aged 34.
Municipal representatives took part in the act of repudiation, which was conducted in silence. With this gathering, the council aimed to show its rejection of misogynistic violence and its solidarity with the victims and their families.
According to the latest data from the Government Delegation against Gender Violence, so far this year, 38 women have been murdered due to misogynistic violence in Spain. The number of minors orphaned as a result of these crimes amounts to 26.
Since 2003, the total number of women murdered due to misogynistic violence has reached 1,379. The number of orphans recorded since 2013 is 536.
The involvement of all public institutions in the fight against this structural violence is essential,” stated the Coslada City Council.
The council has reiterated its commitment to equality, prevention, victim support, and social awareness, as well as coordinated work with administrations, entities, and groups involved in the eradication of this violence.
