The City Council of Getafe will activate noise emission controls during the four weekends of Shakira's concerts at the Iberdrola Music venue in Madrid. The council warns that M-45 disruptions and long queues from the Coca Cola Music Experience will recur.
The City Council of Getafe has announced that its municipal technical services will once again carry out noise emission control campaigns during Shakira's concerts at the Iberdrola Music venue, which will take place from Friday to Sunday over the next four weekends. The council claims that these events will generate new noise disturbances for residents of Villaverde and Getafe.
The warning comes after the events of the Coca Cola Music Experience, when long queues were reported from Friday afternoon due to M-45 disruptions as it passes through Getafe, with thousands of people walking from the municipality to the venue or leaving the city after the concerts.
Measurements taken then exceeded healthy noise limits in homes, according to the City Council, which chronicled the problem in residential areas such as Getafe Norte and Los Molinos.
The municipal government reminds that setting up temporary traffic lights on high-capacity roads does not facilitate the flow of tens of thousands of attendees and also blocks daily access to homes and workplaces in Getafe.

To reduce the impact on Getafe Norte, the council will prevent non-residents from accessing the Coliseum parking lot, monitor illegal parking of motorcycles, and try to prevent VTC and taxi queues in the municipality to curb a mass exit of attendees towards the city.
Getafe points to the City Council of Madrid for granting unilateral licenses without agreeing on mobility plans and for promoting a venue that generates noise disturbances in Villaverde and Getafe. It also points to the Community of Madrid for financing and promoting events at the venue while avoiding its mediating role, unlike the protection it applies to areas in the centre of the capital such as the Santiago Bernabéu surroundings.
The City Council of Getafe also requests that the operational commands of the State Security Forces demand from the Community of Madrid and the City Council of Madrid definitive and safe access: a pedestrian bridge over the M-45, an underground passage under that same road, or a metro stop at the beginning of Avenida Real de Pinto, next to the M-45 roundabout.
The City Council of Getafe also draws attention to the deployment of Guardia Civil and National Police that each concert entails due to the lack of safe access, resources that could be allocated to other needs, and points to private promoters for profiting from large events without assuming the costs of access or noise.
