The Community of Madrid maintains the access regulation to the Hayedo de Montejo for weekends and holidays in autumn 2026. Residents of Horcajuelo de la Sierra will have 240 passes and 24 trails, according to the distribution by municipalities of the Sierra del Rincón Biosphere Reserve.
The General Directorate of Biodiversity and Forest Management of the Community of Madrid has renewed the regulation system and access quotas for the Hayedo de Montejo for the autumn 2026 season. The measure affects weekends and holidays and applies to the municipalities of the Sierra del Rincón Biosphere Reserve, including Horcajuelo de la Sierra.
The allocation of places for this season assigns Horcajuelo de la Sierra 240 total passes and 24 trails, according to the distribution table by municipalities. The allocation criterion responds to the proportion between the total number of available entries and the municipal register of each town hall.
Interested residents must reserve and collect their authorization at the Information Centre of the Reserve with a maximum notice of one week. The process is enabled from the Saturday prior to the chosen date. Each group will have a maximum limit of 10 people, including the responsible resident for the route.
If there are free places on the same day of the route, residents from other municipalities in the area may occupy them. To optimize capacity, a maximum of two different groups can be combined. The organization requests punctuality at the assigned entry times to avoid crowds at the Casa del Hayedo.
The other municipalities of the reserve have the following quotas: Prádena del Rincón (350 passes and 35 trails), La Hiruela (160 and 16), Puebla de la Sierra (160 and 16), Madarcos (160 and 16) and El Cardoso de la Sierra (160 and 16).
This measure aims to organise the flow of visits smoothly and avoid crowds at the Casa del Hayedo, requesting punctuality from attendees at the assigned entry times," according to the General Directorate of Biodiversity and Forest Management.
Reservations for weekends and holidays in the autumn 2026 season can now be managed at the Information Centre of the Sierra del Rincón Biosphere Reserve, with a maximum of one week in advance of the chosen date.
