The Community of Madrid has activated the heatwave warning in the Sierra this Thursday, with level 1 of moderate risk. The South area, Vegas, and West rise to level 2.
The Health Department, through the General Directorate of Public Health, has informed Civil Protection of the activation of the heatwave warning in the Community of Madrid. The announcement, made public this Thursday, July 31, 2026, establishes the risk levels by meteosalud zones.
According to the Action Plan for High Temperature Episodes, the Sierra de Madrid area —which includes Navarredonda and San Mamés— is at level 1, moderate risk (caution). The Metropolitan area and Henares are also at this level.
Meanwhile, the South area, Vegas, and West rise to level 2, also of moderate risk, according to information from the Madrid 112 Security and Emergency Agency.
For residents of Navarredonda and San Mamés, the warning means to take extra precautions during the hottest hours of the day, stay hydrated, and avoid outdoor activities during peak heat. Authorities remind that level 1 is the lowest on the scale, but it is important not to let one's guard down.
Civil Protection recommends paying special attention to the elderly, children, and people with chronic illnesses. The activation will remain in effect as long as the meteorological conditions that prompted it persist.
