The municipal sustainable mobility programme resumes its activities today in Tres Cantos. Schoolchildren can continue to complete their cards to exchange them for prizes.
The Town Hall of Tres Cantos has resumed the municipal programme ‘To school on two wheels’ this Monday, coinciding with the return to school. The initiative, promoted by the Mobility Department as part of the Safe School Routes project, has accumulated nearly 1,500 participants since its launch in April.
The aim is to encourage students to travel to school by bicycle or scooter. The system works with coloured cards: each sustainable journey earns a stamp, and by completing the yellow, blue, and green cards, students gain access to a final special card, designed for the 35th anniversary of the city, which requires 35 stamps and grants access to the final prize of this first edition.
The Councillor for Mobility, María del Mar Sánchez, has praised the response: “More than 1,500 participants reflect that more and more families and schoolchildren are encouraged to incorporate bicycles and scooters into their daily commutes.”
We want the return to school to also represent a new opportunity to continue making sustainable mobility a habit that accompanies our children from an early age.
Participants will be able to submit their cards and redeem prizes until December 22, the last school day of 2026. Those who have completed the special card and obtained the voucher for the family circus show on October 4 at the Adolfo Suárez Cultural Centre Theatre have until September 20 to register through the municipal website.
The show will have five performances: at 11:30, 13:00, 17:00, 18:30, and 20:00 hours. Places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Tickets can be collected in person from September 28 to October 2, from 8:00 to 21:00 hours, at the Tres Cantos Town Hall, presenting the corresponding voucher.
