The municipality recorded 598 offenses between January and June, 32 fewer than in 2025. Vehicle thefts fell by 80% and burglaries by 14.8%.
Tres Cantos closed the first half of 2026 with 598 conventional crime offenses, compared to 630 in the same period of 2025. This is 32 fewer crimes, a 5.1% decrease, according to the Crime Balance from the Ministry of the Interior.
Burglaries decreased from 27 to 23 cases (-14.8%). Thefts dropped from 203 to 189 (-6.9%) and burglaries in homes, businesses, and other facilities fell from 34 to 31 (-8.8%).
The most significant decline was in vehicle thefts: just one case between January and June, down from five the previous year, representing an 80% decrease. Drug-related crimes also fell by 25%, from four to three.
In the first six months of the year, there were no recorded homicides or attempted murders, nor any sexual assaults involving penetration.
The data reflects a particularly favourable evolution and, significantly, a more pronounced reduction in conventional crime during the second quarter. We will continue to work on prevention, police presence, and coordination among the various security bodies to ensure the safety and tranquillity of all Tres Cantos residents," stated the first deputy mayor and councillor for Security, Javier Juárez.
At the end of the first quarter of 2026, Tres Cantos was the third municipality with over 50,000 inhabitants in the Community of Madrid with the lowest rate of conventional crime, with 5.51 offenses per 1,000 inhabitants, only behind Boadilla del Monte (5.38) and Pozuelo de Alarcón (5.41), among the 24 analysed.
This local trend contrasts with the Community of Madrid, where conventional crime rose by 2.6% in the same period. "We start from low levels of conventional crime, and the data from the first half shows a positive evolution. The municipal government continues to work every day to maintain these levels, with the necessary resources and close coordination between the Local Police and the Civil Guard," highlighted Juárez.
Cybercrime, on the other hand, increased by 7.6%, from 342 to 368 offenses. Computer fraud cases rose from 288 to 345 (+19.8%), while other cybercrimes fell from 54 to 23 (-57.4%).
Cybercrime continues to be one of the main challenges in security and requires strengthening both prevention and information directed at residents. The City Council will continue to work closely with the Security Forces to tackle these new forms of crime," stated the first deputy mayor.
