The Municipal Sports Centre Santiago Apóstol in Villanueva de la Cañada will host the Villanueva de la Cañada Rubik's Open 2026 on September 12 and 13, a tournament organised by the Madrid Speedcubing Association in collaboration with the Town Hall and under the regulations of the World Cube Association (WCA).
The competition will bring together 92 players from different countries, experts in solving this three-dimensional mechanical puzzle invented by Hungarian sculptor and professor Ernö Rubik in 1974.
The tournament will begin on Saturday, September 12 at 9:30 am and will feature up to eight different events where athletes can showcase their skills. The event will conclude on Sunday with the awards ceremony and a head-to-head competition.
Entry is free for those who wish to enjoy speedcubing, a discipline that combines concentration, technique, speed, and mental agility.
