The Galapagar Town Hall will invest 400,000 euros before the end of the year to renew and improve its sports facilities. The main action is the new artificial grass for the football field at El Chopo, with a budget of 216,255.21 euros.
The Galapagar Town Hall has scheduled an investment of 400,000 euros to renew and improve municipal sports facilities before the end of 2026. The package of actions includes interventions at the football field at El Chopo, the paddle courts, the sports centre, the beach volleyball court, and the tennis courts.
The highest allocation corresponds to the football field at El Chopo, with 216,255.21 euros. The project replaces the current artificial grass, which was significantly deteriorated and hindered sports practice, with a new surface made of 100% polyethylene monofilament fibre, 60 millimetres high, and line markings in accordance with the regulations of the Royal Spanish Football Federation.
The contract for El Chopo also includes the supply and installation of a weather-resistant LED screen and electronic scoreboard, new covered auxiliary benches, a seven-year warranty for the grass and materials, and comprehensive maintenance of the football-11 field for seven years.
The initial works have already begun. This involves the renewal of the flooring of paddle courts number 3 and 7, with an investment of 16,000 euros. Both facilities will remain closed for a few days while the works are carried out.
The remaining actions planned for the last quarter of the year include exterior painting of the sports centre, repairs to the beach volleyball court, improvements to several tennis courts, and the renewal of the dividing panels of the sports centre.

The municipal government led by Carla Greciano frames these works within the progressive renewal of the municipality's sports equipment, both in elements that need maintenance and in spaces that require a more in-depth intervention.
Residents using paddle courts 3 and 7 should keep in mind that they will remain closed for a few days. The rest of the works will be carried out throughout the last quarter of the year.
