The San Martín de la Vega Town Hall has awarded the operation of the municipal football pitch bar-cafeteria for ten years. It will open every day, including holidays.
The San Martín de la Vega Town Hall has awarded the concession and operation of the municipal football pitch bar-cafeteria to the company Churrería y Cafetería La Fábrica, S.L. The contract lasts for six years with an additional four-year extension, making a total of ten years, and the company will pay a monthly fee of 120 euros.
The establishment will open every day, including weekends and holidays, from 1 September to 30 June. The hours will be from 10:00 to 14:00 and from 16:30 to 21:30.
The award comes after an initial bidding process that was left vacant. The governing team decided to relaunch it because, according to the mayor, Rafael Martínez, they had found that there were people interested in managing the service. Four bidders submitted proposals, and one could not be evaluated as it did not meet the requirements for public contracting.
Martínez highlighted that the service responds to a long-standing demand from athletes and their families:
This new service will respond to the historical demands of athletes and families from both the football pitch and the new athletics track, as it is common for them to spend mornings, afternoons, and even entire days at these facilities.
The bar will also offer breakfasts to any neighbour who wishes to come, as long as the sports facilities remain open. The mayor stated: “It has taken time and effort, but at last, we fulfil our commitment.”
The mayor reminded that the 7-a-side football pitch is still pending, included in the PRISMA Plan 2008-2011 of the Community of Madrid eleven years ago. According to what he indicated in the last meeting, the works would begin after the summer of this year.
