The Youth and Childhood Department of San Martín de la Vega expands the Youth Chess School with a session for adults starting on Tuesday, September 29, at Territorio Joven.
The Youth Chess School of San Martín de la Vega will have a group for adults from this academic year. The Youth and Childhood Department has decided to expand the activity in response to requests received in recent months from parents and other residents of the municipality.
Sessions for adults will be held on Tuesdays from 19:00 to 20:00 at Territorio Joven and will begin on Tuesday, September 29. They will be led by Andrés Ingunza, head of the Youth Chess School, and will have a practical and participatory nature. No prior level is required: both beginners and those who already play can participate.
The youth project began in 2024 with the aim of offering educational and participatory leisure alternatives to children and young people. The councillor for Youth and Childhood, Paula de Llanos Bustos, explained that the expansion responds to requests from families.
Our main objective when we launched the Youth Chess School was to offer our young people a different, educational leisure alternative that responded to their own interests. But when a proposal works and we receive families and neighbours telling us they also want to participate, we believe it is only logical to listen to them.
The councillor added that the new option “does not change the essence or objectives of the Youth Chess School,” which prioritises children and young people. “We simply want to take advantage of an activity that is working so that as many neighbours as possible can enjoy its benefits,” she stated.
