The City Council of San Martín de la Vega closes the summer season with over 18,000 users and a revenue of €53,538. The cost of the service amounted to €83,337, of which the Council covered nearly €30,000.
The municipal pool of San Martín de la Vega has closed the summer season of 2026 with over 18,000 users, a figure that exceeds the 16,000 recorded the previous year. The City Council has made public the usage, income, and expenditure data of the facility so that residents can understand how the service operates.
The sale of tickets and passes generated a revenue of €53,538, compared to €46,840.90 in 2025. The total cost of the service was €83,337.11, which includes €77,310.63 for the pool service and €6,026.48 for ordinary expenses. With these figures, the income covers approximately 64% of the cost, and the Council assumes the difference, close to €30,000, from municipal resources.
These figures allow us to understand the reality of a public service like our municipal pool. Over 18,000 users have passed through it this summer, and the income helps finance a significant part of its cost, but there is another part that we cover from the City Council because we believe we must continue offering this service to our residents,” declared the mayor, Rafael Martínez.
The mayor added that the goal is to “maintain reasonable prices, provide good service, and at the same time, manage the resources of all responsibly.” For Martínez, publishing this data allows any resident to know how much is collected, how much it costs to open the pool, and what part is financed from the municipal budget.
With the closing of the season, the City Council begins maintenance work and the planned investments for next summer. The main action will be the construction of two fixed accesses, one for each pool basin.
Closing the doors of the pool in September does not mean we stop working on it until next summer. During these months, we will carry out maintenance work and new investments so that the facility continues to improve year after year and is ready when the season starts again,” pointed out the Councillor for Sports, Alvaro Pleguezuelo.
The work will take place during the winter months at the municipal facility. The City Council has not specified exact execution dates or the cost of the works.
