The HUB232 in El Cantizal, in Las Rozas, hosted the gala for the PETEC 2026 Awards this Thursday, presented by the Professional Association of Experts in New Technologies. The awards recognise professionals, companies, and initiatives in cybersecurity, computer expertise, and new technologies.
Attendees included the Mayor of Las Rozas, José de la Uz; the Deputy Minister of Digitalisation of the Community of Madrid, Manuel Pérez; the Deputy Mayor and Councillor for Digital Office, Gustavo Rico; the Councillor for Economy, Employment and Innovation, Alba Monteiro; and the General Director of Digital Office, Virginia Moreno Bonilla. The president of PETEC, Fernando Mairata, also spoke at the opening.
In a new initiative, the PETEC community on LinkedIn participated in the selection of the winners. The María Jesús Carrascosa Award for Professional Trajectory went to Laura Giménez; the Cybersecurity Communicator award went to Raúl Guillén; Elena García Armada received the award for Relevant Personality; the Digital Talent award went to Beatriz Gómez Hermosilla; the Ángel Pablo Avilés Values award was given to Antonio Mancera Cárdenas; the Associate of the Year award went to Miguel Ángel de la Torre; the Juan Carlos Ramírez Accessible Technologies award was presented to the Deputy Minister of Digitalisation of the Community of Madrid, Miguel López-Valverde; and Cyber Workforce, from the Somos F5 Foundation, won the Cybersecurity Project award, presented by the mayor.
De la Uz closed the event and congratulated the winners. In his speech, he highlighted the role of associations like PETEC:
Digital transformation requires prepared professionals, shared knowledge, and trust. The more digital we become, the more important it is to use technology with rigor and responsibility. Cybersecurity is part of security, which is why associations like PETEC, that support and give visibility to great professionals, are so valuable.
The mayor also received recognition from PETEC for Las Rozas for its commitment to cybersecurity and for hosting these awards. In 2025, the City Council received the medal for Merit in Cyber Defence from the association for strengthening its systems and procedures, for training in schools through the Local Police, and for its integration into the National Cybersecurity Operators Network.
The City Council established the Information Security Committee in 2022 to work on cybersecurity tools and improve network electronics and perimeter security. In 2023, it launched the Security Operations Centre, which centrally supervises all municipal technological infrastructure.
