The underground public car parks at Plaza de la Constitución and Calle del Rey, beneath the Parque de Felipe II, now have a system that calculates occupancy and displays available spaces on LED panels. The initiative has received €80,000 in NextGenerationEU funding.
The underground public car parks at Plaza de la Constitución and Calle del Rey, beneath the Parque de Felipe II in San Lorenzo de El Escorial, now have a technological solution that monitors vehicle entry and exit in real-time, as well as the occupancy of each facility.
The system includes access sensors, control units, digital information panels, a server, and a management application, along with the necessary power supply, communications systems, and civil works for installation. The data captured by the sensors is processed to calculate the number of free spaces in each car park.
The information is disseminated through LED panels located at strategic access points to the urban centre and is integrated with the Content Manager and the Smart City Platform of the municipality, allowing it to be consulted on the website, the municipal mobile app, and other platforms.
The system also enables the generation of occupancy histories and allows for authorised manual corrections to maintain the reliability of the data displayed to drivers.
The initiative is funded by €80,000 from NextGenerationEU.
