Sevilla la Nueva finalises extensive security measures for its Patron Saint Festivities

The Local Security Board coordinates an operation with eleven guards, five dogs, and video surveillance for the September festivities. Cybercrime accounts for half of the crimes in the municipality.

The City Council of Sevilla la Nueva has held a new session of the Local Security Board to coordinate the special device for the Patron Saint Festivities in September and to analyse the crime data from the first half of 2026.

The meeting, chaired by the first deputy mayor, Carmen Chueca, included representatives from the Civil Guard of Navalcarnero, the Government Delegation, the General Directorate of Security of the Community of Madrid, the Local Police, Civil Protection, and municipal areas. It took place on August 31 in municipal facilities.

The busiest days are expected to be September 11, 12, 18, and 19. The operation will include private security made up of eleven guards and five security dogs, authorised by the Government Delegation, who will serve in the area of the Plaza de los Arcos. They will be joined by the Local Police, Civil Guard, and Civil Protection.

Civil Protection will have an ambulance, a medical tent, and between 10 and 12 volunteers available on the busiest days. A favourable report for the installation of 14 video surveillance cameras and the authorisation of the fireworks planned for September 11 has also been confirmed.

Criminal offences have decreased by 9.6% during the first half of 2026. Burglaries in homes have dropped from seven to five cases.

Cybercrime accounts for approximately half of the recorded crimes, a point that received special attention during the meeting. The crime rate in Sevilla la Nueva stands at 36.6 crimes per 1,000 inhabitants, compared to 55.2 in the Community of Madrid.

The Government Delegation highlighted the low crime rate in the municipality and praised the work of the Security Forces. The Local Police also valued the operation of the Safe Holidays programme.

The City Council will continue to coordinate with the Local Police, Civil Guard, Civil Protection, Government Delegation, and Community of Madrid to ensure the festivities proceed smoothly and maintain security levels.
