Getafe opens generational transfer aid for small businesses until September 30

Getafe City Council is accepting applications for generational transfer aid for small businesses until September 30, with amounts up to €2,900.

Those interested in applying for the Generational Transfer Aid offered by the Getafe City Council through the municipal company GISA have until September 30. The initiative aims to prevent the closure of small businesses due to a lack of successors, supporting those who take over an already established business, whether they are family members or new self-employed individuals without family ties. GISA has an initial budget of €40,000 for this aid.

The Councillor for Economic Development, Elisabeth Melo, stated that “this initiative adds more opportunities to strengthen Getafe's small businesses, promoting the transfer of businesses that provide quality service and close attention to local residents in the neighbourhoods.”

The aid covers transfers made between October 1, 2025, and September 30, 2026. The amounts are €2,500 when the transfer is made through rental, assignment, transfer, or sale of the business, and €2,900 if the transfer is due to retirement. In autumn 2025, this initiative helped save nine local businesses in the city, preventing their disappearance.

This call is part of the support package that GISA manages annually. In 2025 alone, it granted nearly €1,200,000 in direct aid to merchants, hoteliers, self-employed individuals, and local businesses. In 2026, 41 aids for the digitalisation of commerce and for compliance with the Verifactu Regulation have already been approved, as well as for improving the energy efficiency of premises, with an investment of nearly €75,000, expanding the initial budget in response to demand.

Other ongoing initiatives include the ‘Young People with Getafe’ programme, which ends on December 31 and offers a €50 voucher for young people to shop locally, and the ‘Shop in Your Neighbourhood’ campaign with the ACOEG association, where each purchase with the Getafe City Card at participating shops enters a draw for five €100 prizes.
