The Town Hall of Velilla de San Antonio has hung the Ceuta flag on its facade throughout September as a gesture of support for the autonomous city on its special day.
The Town Hall of Velilla de San Antonio expressed its support and solidarity with the citizens of Ceuta on Wednesday, September 2, in celebration of Ceuta Day. As a symbolic gesture, the flag of the autonomous city will remain displayed at the town hall for the entire month of September.
The town hall has issued a statement conveying a direct message: “Ceuta has our support”. The text emphasizes that solidarity with the city is linked to the defense of the rights of migrants, refugees, and applicants for international protection, with particular attention to unaccompanied minors and those living in situations of greater vulnerability.
We reject any expression of racism, xenophobia, hatred, or violence, as well as any attempt to turn people or territories into instruments of political or geopolitical confrontation,” the statement notes.
The Town Hall of Velilla de San Antonio also thanks the work of institutions, the Security Forces and Corps, and public services operating in the area, as well as the response of residents and Ceuta groups who, according to the text, demonstrate that “solidarity, coexistence, and respect” are part of the city's identity.
The statement concludes with a defense of a Spain based on respect and coexistence: “Today, on its day, Velilla de San Antonio looks to Ceuta with closeness and respect.”
