The Alcalá de Henares City Council has acquired a hundred wristbands that monitor body temperature to prevent heatstroke among the staff at the Municipal Services Park.
The Alcalá de Henares City Council, through the Department of Works and Urban Maintenance, has purchased 100 heatstroke prevention wristbands for the workers at the Municipal Services Park. The devices will be distributed in the coming days among the staff.
This purchase expands the municipal strategy for preventing thermal stress, which is already applied in other services. The City Council, along with Valoriza, the company responsible for street cleaning, and the Japanese technology firm Biodata Bank, uses a system of smart wristbands for cleaning workers.
These devices monitor body temperature in real time using a heat flow sensor and issue preventive alerts when they detect risk. This allows for measures such as breaks or reorganising shifts to avoid heatstroke, according to municipal sources.
Councillor Antonio Saldaña explained that "as was done with the cleaning company, this type of device will ensure greater safety for workers during the hottest months and days of the year."
"Our priority is to provide municipal workers with tools that allow them to perform their duties with the highest safety guarantees. Prevention is essential, and these wristbands complement the measures for work organisation, hydration, and protection against heat that we already implement," concluded Saldaña.
The acquisition represents another step in extending these preventive measures to other municipal groups particularly exposed to high temperatures. Employees at the Municipal Services Park will receive the wristbands in the coming days.
