The mayor of Colmenar Viejo, Carlos Blázquez, has sent a letter to the director of Cercanías Madrid, Sonia Ferrero, to express the residents' dissatisfaction with the incidents, delays, and cancellations affecting the C-4 line. In the letter, dated 22 September 2026, the mayor denounces that on numerous occasions trains heading to Colmenar Viejo end their journey in Tres Cantos, leaving passengers unable to complete their trip.
Blázquez demands that Renfe take immediate measures to ensure adherence to schedules and routes to Colmenar Viejo, especially during peak hours, and insists on providing quick and effective information when any incidents occur. Additionally, he requests that the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, led by Óscar Puente, allocate the necessary resources and investments to improve service reliability.
Every morning, thousands of residents depend on the Cercanías to get to their jobs, medical appointments, or exams at the University. The delays and incidents are compounded by particularly serious situations where trains heading to Colmenar Viejo end their journey in Tres Cantos, leaving users unable to complete their trip.
The mayor recalls that the situation was addressed in a meeting with the head of Cercanías last May, but the problems persist. In the letter, Blázquez frames these incidents in the context of the expansion works on the M-607, a nearly 40 million euros investment by the Community of Madrid that is causing temporary disruptions to mobility. In his view, in this scenario, the Cercanías should function as a reliable alternative.
The Colmenar Viejo City Council maintains that it will not normalise delays and uncertainty as part of users' daily routines and demands a response with concrete measures to restore the reliability of the C-4. The letter is signed by the mayor and addressed to the director of Cercanías Madrid.
