Getafe's Municipal Office of Healthy Homes has achieved savings of over 1.5 million euros on electricity, gas, and water bills since 2022, assisting nearly 5,000 families.

The Municipal Office of Healthy Homes in Getafe, a free service promoted by the Municipal Land and Housing Company (EMSV), has enabled residents to save more than 1,500,000 euros on their electricity, gas, and water bills since 2022. The programme, which has already assisted nearly 5,000 families from all neighbourhoods, aims to combat energy poverty in a context of rising prices.

According to data provided by the Getafe City Council, the accumulated savings so far in 2026 exceed 300,000 euros. On average, households that use the service pay about 70 euros a month for supplies and, after consulting with the EMSV, manage to reduce their energy expenditure by nearly 20%, tailoring solutions to each home.

The Councillor for Housing, Gema Cáceres, highlighted the Council's commitment: “In the face of rising supply prices in recent years, the City Council maintains its commitment to the right to energy and the fight against energy poverty to ensure no one is left behind.” She also emphasized that “real public policies that protect families' economies” continue to be promoted.

The service is not limited to advice on contracts and assistance. It also provides information on energy rehabilitation of buildings, self-consumption, and energy communities, aiming to improve the efficiency and sustainability of homes. Interested residents can visit the EMSV headquarters or the new weekly service points established in the civic centres of La Alhóndiga, San Isidro, Las Margaritas, Juan de la Cierva, and Getafe Norte, thus adding up to six public service spaces.

With this expansion, the City Council aims to bring the resource closer to all neighbourhoods and facilitate more families benefiting from this free support. The workshops and in-person offices allow residents to resolve questions about their bills and learn about available energy assistance.
