The Las Rozas City Council, through the Environment Department, has prepared a programme of free activities for all audiences from September to December. The Family Planting Day at Finca El Garzo, in Las Matas, will be on October 24.
The City Council of Las Rozas de Madrid, through the Environment Department led by Jaime Santamarta, has launched the Environmental Education Programme for the months of September to December. The proposal includes free activities for all ages focused on learning, respect for the environment, and education in values through play and experimentation.
The programme also includes a specific section for the Eco-schools in the municipality, with annual and quarterly projects, days, and workshops that will take place at the La Talaverona Environmental Centre. The aim is to involve the educational community in awareness initiatives about the protection of the natural environment of Las Rozas.
For families, activities have been scheduled such as a storytelling session on October 10, a workshop on maintaining bird boxes and feeders on October 17, a special Halloween gymkhana on October 29, the mysterious books workshop “Medieval Bestiaries” on November 1, and a day of art and nature in the surroundings of the Guadarrama River on November 14.
On November 28, the guided tour “Catch the Print” will return in the recreational area Virgen del Retamar. In December, there will be a special gymkhana titled “The Talaverians” on the 5th, another on invasive exotic species on the 12th, and the Christmas activity “The Tree of Wishes” on the 19th.
Adults will have courses on Organic Horticulture on October 3 and 14, and on Domestic Composting on September 23. Guided tours “Birdwatching in Las Rozas” (October 18) and “Shinrin-yoku” (November 7) have also been organised, along with an introductory zoology workshop on November 15.
One of the main events will be the Family Planting Day on October 24 at Finca El Garzo, in Las Matas. Residents will be able to participate by planting forest species to contribute to the recovery of the municipality's tree cover. Throughout the morning, environmental workshops for all audiences and cultural events will be held.
