Lozoyuela: no prior permission required to remove vegetation burned by the fire

The Community of Madrid approves an extraordinary resolution that exempts individual authorisation and responsible declaration for owners of forest land affected by the 2026 fires in Lozoyuela-Navas-Sieteiglesias.

Owners of forest land in Lozoyuela-Navas-Sieteiglesias affected by the 2026 fires can now remove burned vegetation without needing to request prior individual authorisation or submit the responsible declaration required by ordinary regulations. This has been established by the Community of Madrid through an extraordinary resolution, as reported by the local Town Hall.

The measure applies exclusively to forest vegetation located within the areas affected by the fire. Urban trees, gardens, parks, and any urban areas remain subject to the usual procedures.

Although prior authorisation has been removed, work cannot commence without further steps. Before starting, it is mandatory to submit a Prior Communication of Start of Phytosanitary Works with a minimum of 10 working days' notice. The procedure is carried out through the Generic Form on the Electronic Headquarters of the Community of Madrid, addressed to the General Directorate of Biodiversity and Forest Management.

The communication must indicate the municipality, the polygon, the plot, and the main species to be cut. The resolution will be published in the Official Bulletin of the Community of Madrid (BOCM) in the coming days, at which point it will come into effect.

The Town Hall recommends that those affected prepare the documentation in advance and consult the electronic headquarters to avoid errors in the form. Once the regulation is published, interested parties will be able to submit the communication and plan the removal of the burned biomass, a key step in preventing future fires and facilitating forest regeneration.
