The Town Hall of Tres Cantos, through the Mobility Department, has organised a daily informative campaign for the European Mobility Week 2026, which this year focuses on accessible sustainable transport for all residents.
The municipality of Tres Cantos has once again joined the European Mobility Week with an informative campaign that, under the slogan “Mobility for all people”, will dedicate each day to a different transport alternative. The aim is for residents to learn about the options available for their daily commutes within and outside the city, regardless of their income level, place of residence, age, gender, or abilities.
The initiative, promoted by the Town Hall of Tres Cantos through the Mobility Department, kicked off this Monday with the presentation of the new Community of Madrid Guide for the Work Mobility Plan and a mobile unit with information and awareness activities for residents.
The programme will continue this Tuesday with the campaign “To school on two wheels”, active since April and aimed at making cycling and scooting to schools a routine. On Wednesday, information will be provided about the news and improvements in local and regional bus lines; Thursday will address information related to pedestrians and accessibility, and Friday will conclude the week with tips and recommendations to enhance road safety.
The councillor for Mobility, María del Mar Sánchez, has stated that the work in this area goes beyond the European Mobility Week:
We continue to work daily for mobility for all people, capable of promoting equity and collaboration between generations, with transport systems adapted to all ages. Our goal is to keep advancing in solutions that facilitate daily commutes and respond to the current and future needs of Tres Cantos.
The councillor emphasised that participation in the SEM is part of a line of work that the Department maintains throughout the year, “combining information and awareness actions with initiatives aimed at promoting public transport and active commuting in the city.”
In 2026, some initiatives that in previous years were concentrated in these dates have been extended to other times of the year. This line is complemented by an increase in municipal investment in the urban and interurban bus system, which the Town Hall considers key to facilitating the daily mobility of Tres Cantos residents.
The European Mobility Week is an initiative of the European Commission to raise awareness about the consequences of excessive use of private vehicles and the benefits of public transport, cycling, or walking.
