The Auditorium of the 21st of March Building in Tres Cantos hosted the presentation of the new Guide of the Community of Madrid for the Work Mobility Plan on Monday, a technical tool aimed at companies and administrations to develop and implement plans that improve employee commuting. The event, promoted by the regional government as part of the European Mobility Week, was inaugurated by the mayor, Jesús Moreno.

Participants included Luis Miguel Torres, General Director of Transport and Mobility of the Community of Madrid, along with the Mobility Councillor, María del Mar Sánchez, and the Economic Development Councillor, Ana Isabel Pérez. Representatives from the business sector and other stakeholders related to mobility also attended.

The guide proposes a methodology for developing, implementing, and evaluating work mobility plans, from the initial diagnosis and definition of objectives to the selection of measures and monitoring of results. Among the actions it includes are those related to public transport, walking and cycling, car sharing, parking management, scheduling, and road safety risk prevention.

The document can be consulted and downloaded from the website comunidad.madrid/transporte/plan-movilidad-trabajo. The event was complemented with round tables and the presentation of success stories from companies that have already implemented work mobility plans.

Mobility is a fundamental element for the quality of life of all residents, but it is also crucial for the competitiveness and economic development of the city. The municipal government will continue to work to facilitate increasingly efficient commutes that meet the needs of those who live and work here," stated Moreno.

The mayor emphasized "the close collaboration we maintain with the Community of Madrid to address the current and future challenges of mobility and to continue improving the connections and public transport of Tres Cantos, considering the demographic evolution of a municipality in full expansion."

This coordination is reflected in the ongoing contact between the City Council and the Regional Transport Consortium of Madrid (CRTM). A few days ago, the mayor and the Mobility Councillor held a working meeting with Pablo Rodríguez Sardinero, managing director of the CRTM, to convey the municipality's needs regarding public transport frequencies and routes.

As part of the programming for the European Mobility Week, the Community of Madrid has also brought the Mobile Unit to Tres Cantos, an itinerant space for information and awareness with activities on mobility and road safety. This initiative is part of the European Mobility Week, celebrated from 16 to 22 September under the slogan Mobility for All.

Proposals include a bicycle and scooter maintenance workshop, awareness activities about the risks of alcohol and drugs while driving using simulation glasses and guided circuits, and an immersive virtual reality experience.

The City Council, through the Mobility Department, joins the European Mobility Week with an informative campaign focused on transport alternatives for daily commutes within and outside the city. This work continues throughout the year with initiatives such as To School on Two Wheels, active since April to promote the use of bicycles and scooters in schools, and with increased municipal investment in the urban and interurban bus system.
