The main event will be on Saturday, September 19 at the Cerro del Telégrafo municipal sports centre, where from 17:30 to 20:30, Sports Day will be held, a community gathering with physical and recreational activities organised by local entities and the Sports Department. There will be exhibitions and activities in swimming, water polo, triathlon, chess, hockey, skating, volleyball, badminton, table tennis, judo, rhythmic gymnastics, taekwondo, kuk sool won, jiu jitsu, futsal, tennis, baseball, softball, football, cycling, athletics, rugby, American football, archery, padel, pickleball, and adapted sports.
Participation is free for all ages. Those who complete at least eight activities on their participation card will receive a commemorative t-shirt while stocks last. Cards can be obtained at the entrance to the facility or in the play areas. At 20:20, t-shirts will be handed out at the athletics stadium.
During Sports Day, children's popular races will be held by categories starting from 18:00, with distances ranging from 200 to 2,000 metres depending on age (from pre-sport for 2021-2022 to cadet and youth from 2008-2012). Registrations are free and can be made through the Rock The Sport website from September 10. Race numbers can be collected from 17:30 until 30 minutes before each event. Participation medals will be awarded to minors, and the race will serve as a qualifier for the Community of Madrid School Championship in the benjamin, alevin, infant, cadet, and youth categories.
Additionally, the three schools with the highest proportional participation will receive a prize in sports equipment worth 425 euros plus VAT.
At 20:45, the popular race ‘Rivas runs with family’ will start, with no need for a race number or registration. The route begins at the athletics stadium and ends in the sports centre car park, where a gift will be given to the minors who complete the route wearing the Sports Day t-shirt.
On the same Saturday, from 11:00 to 14:00, the heated pool at Cerro del Telégrafo will host a diving baptism with 24 slots per hour, with free registration on the municipal website inscripciones.rivasciudad.es. A charity padel tournament will also take place from 10:00 to 14:00 in collaboration with Run Faster, featuring two categories (intermediate and advanced) and a maximum of 12 pairs per category. Registration consists of a food donation for the Rivas Food Recovery Network.
The programme will continue in the following days with the Bicycle Festival, the Seniors' Olympics, the Deka Mile, and the Rainbow Health School Challenge, among other events. All updated information and registration forms are available on the municipal website and the City Council's registration portal.
