Around 700 people of all ages participated in the urban and rural routes of the 37th Bicycle Festival, organised by the Town Hall as part of European Mobility Week.
The Avenida de la Universidad in Villanueva de la Cañada hosted this Sunday a new edition of the Bicycle Festival, which is celebrating its 37th year and has established itself as one of the most popular sporting events on the local calendar. The event brought together nearly 700 people of all ages, according to Town Hall data.
Participants could choose between two routes: an urban ride and a rural one. Additionally, a circuit for babies was set up on the same avenue, and the Local Police provided road safety education classes for the youngest attendees. The day is part of the European Mobility Week and aims to promote cycling and physical exercise.
At the end of the activities, a raffle was held for gifts donated by local businesses. The event was attended by the mayor, Luis Partida, the Sports Councillor, Ignacio González, other members of the council, and the president of the Association of Merchants, Small and Medium Enterprises of Villanueva de la Cañada (ACOVI), Cristina Sabat.
We thank the participation and collaboration of residents, sports clubs, ACOVI, and businesses in the municipality,” stated the Town Hall.
The Town Hall has expressed its gratitude to local sports clubs (Triathlon, Taekwondo, Basketball, Sierra Oeste Swimming, Table Tennis, Football, Tennis and Paddle, Greenbay Equestrian, and Titans Athletics) and to the shops that contributed gifts for the raffle, including Taberna Vaca Lucía, Centro de Baile Sígueme, McDonald’s Villanueva de la Cañada, Chessare Peluqueros, Dedulce Bisutería, Coworking Villanueva, Pittacum Bistro Bar, Kamargo Restaurante, La Abulense, BDS Librería, Anguita Peluqueros, Juguetería Da2, Opticalia La Cañada, Arte3 Bichos, The Víctor Bar, Daluna Brunch and Coffe, Amiestética, Lovely Hair, Al Plato María, Farmacia Manzano, Cafetería C.C. El Molino, Creamond Papelería, Pequeñeces, Informática Villanueva, Esquina 7, All Italiana, Coto del Rey, Organizita, Crea Sentido Psicología, and Laudy Routes.
The Bicycle Festival will return next year as part of the municipal programme for European Mobility Week, with the date to be announced in the Town Hall's agenda.
