The Autonomous University of Madrid's programme offers six quarterly courses for those over 50, with special prices for residents of Tres Cantos.
The UAM+50 programme is now accepting enrolment for six new educational programmes in Tres Cantos, corresponding to the 2026-2027 academic year. This initiative, promoted by the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM), the Foundation of the Autonomous University of Madrid (FUAM), and the City Council, brings university education closer to residents over 50 without the need to travel to the campus.
The programme includes History of Madrid: City of Light, an interdisciplinary journey through the historical, artistic, and archaeological evolution of the capital, with special attention to its heritage and the collections of its main museums. It also offers Art in the Peninsular Middle Ages: Christian Kingdoms and al-Andalus, which analyses the richness of medieval heritage through architecture and figurative arts.
For those who prefer international current affairs, Geopolitics and Geoeconomics of Current Conflicts is available in parts I and II, addressing the economic and strategic keys of the main conflicts on the world stage. Additionally, the course Personality and Wellbeing (parts I and II) focuses on the keys to emotional wellbeing.
The sessions, which are quarterly, will be held in the Assembly Hall of the 21 de Marzo building. Enrolment can be done online or with personalised assistance, and residents of Tres Cantos will enjoy a special price, as highlighted by the Councillor for Education, Marisa Peña.
They will benefit from a special price for enrolment, a measure that facilitates access to this university education and reinforces the municipal commitment to lifelong learning,” Peña states.
For those unable to register online, there is an individual support service available via email at secretaria.formacioncontinua@fuam.es or by calling 651 19 78 25 and 651 19 79 35. The councillor encourages residents to participate: “The UAM+50 programme represents an excellent opportunity to discover new areas of knowledge and enjoy quality university education without leaving Tres Cantos.”
The FUAM highlights the high level of prior knowledge among the students from Tres Cantos, a profile that has grown exponentially year after year and enriches the exchange of experiences in the classroom. All information about the courses and their contents is available on the foundation's website.
