Nearly 4,000 residents of Boadilla del Monte participated in a solidarity event for Ceuta, organised by the Town Hall, where a manifesto was read in defence of Spanish sovereignty.
About 4,000 people gathered yesterday in Boadilla del Monte for the public event called by the Town Hall to show their support for the autonomous city of Ceuta. This initiative is part of the campaign promoted by the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP) on the occasion of Ceuta Day.
During the event, the mayor, Javier Úbeda, read the common manifesto promoted by the FEMP, which emphasises that Ceuta is an inalienable part of Spain due to its history, law, and the free and democratic will of generations of Ceutans. The text also defends Spain's territorial integrity and full Spanish sovereignty over the autonomous city.
The manifesto acknowledged the calmness and responsibility of the Ceutan society in the face of the difficult situation experienced, as well as the work of the Security Forces, Armed Forces, healthcare workers, social services, public employees, and volunteers.
Úbeda thanked the residents for their response and highlighted the importance of conveying a message of unity, solidarity, and firmness with Ceuta from the municipalities.
Attendees were able to leave their written messages of support on three panels set up by the Town Hall. These messages will be delivered to representatives of the Autonomous City when the roundabout dedicated to Ceuta is inaugurated, which Boadilla will incorporate into its street map.
