The Town Hall of Galapagar presents the Visual Programme for the 2026 Patronal Festivals, a cognitive accessibility tool with visual supports for people with ASD.
The Town Hall of Galapagar, through the Department of Inclusion, has presented the Visual Programme for the 2026 Patronal Festivals, a cognitive accessibility tool that will allow people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other sensory needs to anticipate what will happen at each activity.
The programme includes visual information about schedules, locations, images of the spaces, and possible sensory stimuli, such as loud noise, large crowds, strobe lights, or fireworks. This way, residents can decide how and when to participate in each event.
The Councillor for Inclusion, José María Escudero, explained that the initiative arose at the request of a mother of a child with autism, who suggested creating a programme with visual supports so that people with disabilities could understand the festival programme. Escudero noted that “inclusive festivals are not just about being able to attend, but also about being able to know, anticipate, choose, and enjoy.”
This measure is in addition to the inclusive noise-free schedule for the fairgrounds, which will be repeated from 19:00 to 21:00 hours, and the new Fast Pass Priority Access Bracelet, which facilitates access for people with disabilities who cannot stand in long queues.
Additionally, the Civil Protection units will have sensory kits with noise-cancelling headphones and other items to address overload situations.
